Gerald B. and Charlotte A. Saunders Competitive Pre-Med Scholarship Endowment

The Saunders Family Premedical Scholarship was generously donated by the Saunders Family, and is available for full-time undergraduate students who are current members of the Competitive Premedical Studies Program (CPSP) at Columbus State University (CSU) and are pursuing a major in the College of Letters and Sciences (COLS). Funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, room and board, medical school application and/or interview costs, and other reasonable costs associated with progressing towards a degree and medical school admission.

Requirements:
• Enrollment: Full-time students who are classified as undergraduates OR Incoming freshman who are accepted into CPSP during their application to CSU.
• Major: A degree program within the College of Letters and Sciences at CSU.
GPA: Minimum of 3.4 overall college GPA. (or 3.5 overall High School GPA if an incoming freshman)
• Financial Need: Not required
• Preference: Preference will be given to students interested in rural medicine and/or planning to practice medicine in the Columbus, GA area and who show progression toward medical school prerequisites (coursework on schedule, efforts being made to volunteer, shadow, gain experience in healthcare).
• Award term: One academic year. Prior recipients are eligible for consideration.
• # of scholarships available: Based on endowment. 11 per year in years past..
• Deadline: February 15th
• Other: Applicants must be current members, in good standing, of the Competitive Premedical Studies Program at CSU. Students must upload a current CV or Resume, unofficial transcripts, and a 500 word (or less) essay describing (1) why they are pursuing medical school, (2) how they will use the money and specifically why this scholarship money will help them reach their goal of getting into medical school, (3) any academic progression discrepancies that need to be addressed.
